“Memorable, historical and unapologetic. Barking Poets are a growing asset to London’s Punk scene. Crank the volume up to 11 and listen to a true band breathe energy over their powerful music. Barking Poets echo their concerns of politics and important topics within their music”. Chloe Mogg (RGM)
★★★★★ “London Punk-rockers Barking Poets sound immense on catchy debut single. The band’s energy feels unmistakably fresh and invigorating”. Captured Howls
Barking Poets are a Punk-Rock band based in London and founded in 2019 by four experienced musicians from the London, Bristol, Dublin and Barcelona scenes.
Singer-songwriters Harvey Springfield (Man The Lifeboats) on lead vocals and Neil Murray (Two Day Rule) on lead guitar teamed up with Conor Heary (The Wake-Ups) on drums and Sergio Moreno on bass guitar.
Their lyrics echo the concerns of our time such as Climate Change, Racism, Austerity or Populist Politics. Their soul-lifting debut single “Make Me Strong” was released at the start of the lockdown and they donated a solidarity t-shirt to the #SaveOurVenues campaign run by Music Venue Trust.
Their second single “When I Am King” continues in Barking Poets’ style of mixing the anthemic punk of The Clash and The Gaslight Anthem with the protest lineage of Neil Young and Billy Bragg – recorded again at Unit 13 Studios with Paul Tipler, with a captivating video by Richard Herring (@WreckMedia) which premiered on Facebook Live on September 1st.
The new single was released on September 4th 2020 and it’s available for streaming and downloading on all major digital platforms including Spotify.
